El Paso Electric Announces COO Resignation

EL PASO, Texas, Sep 15, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- El Paso Electric (NYSE: EE) today announced that George A. Williams has resigned as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to pursue other professional opportunities.

El Paso Electric also today announced structural changes to its Operations group. Vice President of Transmission and Distribution, Hector Puente, and Vice President of Generation, Andres (Andy) Ramirez, will begin reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer David Stevens.

Puente, an El Paso area native, has been with EPE since 1980 and has served in various capacities, including Vice President of Generation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and is a licensed professional engineer.

Ramirez has been with EPE since 2005. He has 28 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Prior to joining EPE, he served as Executive Director of Gulf Regions Operations for Sempra Energy, a California-based energy company, was Senior Vice President of Power Production for Austin Energy and held various management and engineering positions in generation with Central Power and Light. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University - Kingsville and a Master's of Business Administration degree from Texas State University. Like Puente, he is a registered professional engineer.
